On adjacent patios in a honeymoon hotel, Elyot and Amanda meet by chance after marrying their new spouses. The still smoldering embers of their tempestuous marriage spark flames as banter flies and hilarity ensues. New partners are abandoned, couples re-unite and tempers spiral out of control. Noel Coward’s sophisticated romance shocked audiences in 1930 but this classic battle of the sexes remains a favorite comedy of bad manners. Known as one of the most flippant plays ever written, Noel Coward’s droll and scathing wit is sure to amuse. |

John Romano (Victor) has gone “MENTAL” over the opportunity to tackle this classic, intimate comedy alongside a diversely talented and credited cast. Over the past holiday season you may have witnessed Mr. Romano’s singing portrayal of Mrs. Badden Rotten whilst in “drag” in the Pleasanton Civic Arts/San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s version of Cinderella. John’s variety of roles range from the sweating and swash-buckling characters of dead prosecuting attorney Yusef El-Fayoumy in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, and Porthos in The Three Musketeers at City Lights Theatre Company, to the deranged, Dr. Berman in The Woman Who Fell From The Sky at Teatro Vision or the earnest Jack Worthing and selfish Mellersh Wilton in The Importance of Being Earnest and Enchanted April at the Bus Barn Stage Company. He has also brought to life the character of Austin in True West, surrealist artist Salvador Dali in Pear Slices 08', and Carl in The Baltimore Waltz at The Pear Avenue Theatre. John earned the title of "Barnie" through an equity apprenticeship at The Barn Theatre in Michigan, where he performed in Equus alongside singer/comedian Stephen Lynch of Broadway’s The Wedding Singer and Tom Wopat of the popular 80's television series, The Dukes Of Hazzard. John holds a M. A. in Theatre Arts from San Jose State University. When not onstage, Romano, also a recent survivor of Hodgkins Lymphoma, John works as a News Video Editor for NBC Bay Area. Ben Hemmen (Stage Manager) After 16 shows at Bus Barn telling the Stage Manager to press the Go Button, this time Ben gets to be told when to press the Go Button. This is actually not so unusual, having last been told what to do for the Lamplighter's production of Iolanthe a year ago. Several people have commented about his transition to the dark side of Management, but the voices inside and outside his head convince him he is not managing anything, except in title. Question and comments can be directed to ben@hemmen.com.
